Silent night,
silvery snow,
evergreen tree,
bright & aglow.
The holiday season is here
bringing good cheer.

May it bring for you
gifts of love & joy too!

Love that lives in the heart cannot be so easily terminated by time. Even though the encounter is brief its impression shall last a lifetime. No one can change the direction of love that lives in the heart. If you have loved that in itself is the answer.

:iconinsaneartgurl:
Overall I like your gallery, I think you don't give yourself enough credit. But I am curious, why so smudgey on so many drawings?
:iconphilo08:
Thank you, InsaneArtGurl.

For my pencil drawings, I cover the sheet with graphite first. With a kneadable erasure, this gives nice highlights.

The drawback is that you get a dark figure on a dark paper. To enhance contrast, I either remove the graphite from the background with an erasure, or try to darken it.

Using the erasure gives better contrast, but looks smudgy.

Some papers have a coarse structure, which doesn't allow a smooth shading.

And finally, I'm too lazy to remove all traces.
:iconinsaneartgurl:
Have you tried charcol powder instead of graphite for subtractive drawings? I find it covers nicer on coarse papers.
:iconphilo08:
No, but I'll try it.

Thanks for the suggestion.
